Bush Hill Stud Success On Ladbrokes Gold Cup Day

Bush Hill-bred Tetelestai, winning the Umngeni Handicap Listed. Image: Gold Circle Bush Hill Stud had a successful Super Saturday at Greyville, with Tetelestai winning the final race of the day under jockey Anthony Delpech - the Umngeni Handicap Listed by a length from Mike Bass' Captain's Secret, whilst carrying the top weight of 59kgs. Captain's Secret was carrying 58kg. The five year old gelding trained by Duncan Howells is by Bezrin, and he has now won nine times - including winning this race this race last year by a length from Rushing Wind.

Tetelestai now takes his stakes earned to over R650 000. A consistent racehorse, he has placed nine times from 30 starts. His full-sister, Agape Reigns, bred and consigned by Bush Hill Stud sold at this year's Suncoast KZN Yearling Sale for R100 000.

Another Bush Hill-born and raised Silvano gelding for breeder Dr Ian Heyns, Seal, ran an admirable fourth in the Ladbrokes Gold Cup Grade 1, after winning easily over 3200m in the Mango Gold Vase Gr 2 on Vodacom Durban July Day. Seal ran just 2.5 lengths of the Argentine import In Writing, with Princess Of Light and Blake filling in second and third. Seal shouldered the heaviest weight, carrying 60kgs, with the winning horse 3.5kgs lighter.

We would like to congratulate the connections of the horses concerned.
