Seal Takes Aquanaut Listed
Seal, bred by Dr Ian Heyns and born and raised at Bush Hill Stud, won the Aquanaut Listed Handicap over 2450m. The five year old gelding who was drawn first, carried top weight of the field with 63kgs ridden by Pierre Strydom, beating second horse Canterbury Tale by three quarters of a length - Canterbury Tale was carrying only 52kgs and drawn fifth.
Seal, by Silvano out of Prestine Performer by Rambo Dancer, is trained by Gavin Van Zyl and has won his last two starts out. He is now an 8-time winner and has placed 13 times, including five Stakes races. He is the winner of the Gr 1 SA Derby, the Gr 2 Gold Vase and the Wolf Power 1600 Listed.
The Betting World Gauteng Guineas Gr 2 saw a place for Kahal gelding No Worries, trained by Gavin Van Zyl and ridden by Brandon Lerena - he finished just a length off the winner Tellina.
No Worries is out of Coastal Waltz by Rambo Dancer. From just eight starts, No Worries has had two wins and four places and is owned by Brian Burnard.
Bush Hill-bred Silly Mid-On, by London News out of Tip And Run by Velazquez(USA), won his race at Flamingo Park on Monday over 1600m. Owned by Dr S C Davis and Mr and Mrs M J Roetz, he won by a nose from Poweroftheflower. It is Silly Mid-On's fourth win and he has also placed five times.
His broodmare sire Velazquez (by Gulch out of a full-sister to Sadler's Wells, Puppet Dance) stood at Bush Hill Stud after a successful racing career, but unfortunately due to infertility issues he only sired three foals - two fillies and a colt. Two of them went onto win at the track, and both fillies have gone onto stud and have both subsequently produced winners.
Congratulations to all the connections associated with these horses.
