Miesque’s Approval’s four year old daughter Dreya’s Gold bred by Bush Hill Stud set a class record at Scottsville over 1000m yesterday for trainer Garth Puller, whilst King's Chapel had yet another winner on Friday night and Toreador has had three winners in two days.
The lightly raced Dreya's Gold out of Miss Andrea by Restructure has now won twice and placed three times previously, for owners Garth Puller and Mr Tony Jelinski.
Miss Andrea (out of a Badger Land / Linacre mare) is the dam of three winners, and her Kahal colt sold at the 2015 National Yearling Sale for R375 000. This is the immediate damline of sire Rebel King, and siblings Rebel Queen and Uncle Tommy, as well as King’s Temptress. Dreya's Gold sold for R50 000 at the 2013 KZN Yearling Sale, and she has earned almost R130 000 in stakes.
King's Chapel had a super winner on Friday evening from the Duncan Howells stable. It is the first from three starts for the filly King's Lady, and she went on to win well by half a quarter of a length over 2000m for owners Messrs T L V Whittaker, J M Gruft & D C Lyall at Greyille. This is the fourth winner for King's Chapel in a few weeks.
The ever consistent Toreador brought home three winners over the weekend, including a Vaal double with Prospectus and National Builder. A full-brother to Prospectus selling as Lot 39, also a half-sibling to Irish Flame, will be offered at the upcoming National Yearling Sale. It was a second win for the second of the double at the Vaal for Nation Builder, for owner trainer Mr Erico Verdonese. The four year old gelding has also placed three times.
An exciting prospect is two length debut winner Never Give In, a three year old daughter of Toreador out of Jallad mare Hold Fast. She was part of the incredible race meeting for her rider S'manga Khumalo who rode six horses to victory on the day, trained by Sean Tarry and owned by Mrs Auby, she won easily at Turffontein over 1000m.
Congratulations to all concerned.
