Chapel Queen Breaks Maiden; More Toreador News

King's Chapel is back in the news after his son Malak El Moolook place third in the Gr3 Graham Beck Stakes, with Chapel Queen breaking her maiden in devastating fashion for the Dennis Bosch stable.

After five close attempts from all five of her starts and yet to be out of the money, three year old Chapel Queen at last broke her maiden plate at Greyville over 1000m, winning to go away well by over two lengths. Out of Come Dancing by Rambo Dancer, she is owned in partnership by Dennis Bosch and Mr Da Costa.

Jumping from a sixth draw under jockey Anton Marcus, the filly beat Sail From Seattle filly Westerly Wind into second position, with Sinphonia finishing third. Other King's Chapel's that have recently placed include Shreya's Star and whilst Gary Rich's three year old filly Chapel House is looking for a win soon, after placing in her last three starts over 1600m - 2000m.

Overseas on 3 November, King's Chapel continues good form with diminishing numbers, Late Decision finished second in the Carbine Club Trophy over 1600m in New Zealand.

In general Bush Hill Stud news, Toreador continues to be unstoppable whilst Bush Hill-bred daughter of Mullins Bay out of Splitsville, Manta Reef, has won in Kenya at Ngong over 2060m.

Toreador has had five wins so far for November and six places - including a second by Sean Tarry's Rikitikitana (pictured right) collecting Black Type after running second at Greyville to Exit Here in the KZN Guineas Trial Listed over 1600m on Sunday.

The three year old colt has only been out of the money twice from seven starts, but broke his maiden in eye-popping fashion by almost seven lengths at Scottsville in September.

Toreador is currently lying 11th on the National Sires Log with a winners to runners percentage of 24.1% from 79 runners. Var lies in 10th position with 24.1%, and 104 runners whilst Western Winter is behind Toreador.

We look forward to presenting Toreador's first KZN-born yearlings at sales in 2016.
