Shadwell Sires Produce Listed Weekend Winners

Love Struck and Knock On Wood each won at Kenilworth and Turffontein over the weekend, both sons of Shadwell sires Kahal and Muhtafal respectively. Love Struck took home the Breeders Cup Politician Stakes Listed, and Knock On Wood the London News Gr 3, both over 1800m.

Three year old Love Struck won the Politician Stakes from Ze Kaiser and Silvano's Jet by a neck on Saturday, ridden by Anton Marcus and trained by Paul Lafferty. Love Struck carried top weight of 58kgs, jumping from Stall one.

Owned by Alesh Naidoo, Mr Jason Moodley & Ms L Salsone, this is Love Struck's fourth win from 11 starts, placing three times including third to The Hangman in the Gr 1 Premier's Champion Stakes, and winning the Guineas Trial Listed at Clairwood in November from Wind Trip (by Trippi) by almost two lengths.

Knock On Wood was victorious in the London News Stakes Gr 3, ridden by Nooresh Juglall (57.5 kgs) and trained by Ormonde Ferraris.

The son of Muhtafal has now earned over R1-million in stakes. Congratulations to his owners Messrs A N Noel, N Jairajh & Mr & Mrs K J Chetty.

KZN's champion sire Kahal covered his first season at Bush Hill Stud last year, whilst Muhtafal stands at Spring Valley Stud.
