A winning return to the racetrack for one of King’s Chapel’s leading progeny, when his son King Montrose won over 1000m in New Zealand recording his tenth career victory from 35 starts.
Having last year been a contender in several graded races right through to Gr 1 level his results include a win in the CJC Stewards Stakes, a second in the Timaru Stakes and a Third in the Pegasus stakes. After a disappointing run in a Gr 3 on the 2nd of February he was rested and yesterday saw his first run back since then.
King Montrose is out of the one time winning Tights mare Dorrington. She the dam of 13 foals for 10 runners and 8 winners. He has proven himself a very decent and versatile horse with his ten wins and seven places coming from distances ranging from 1000m to 2000m and in all types of going.
King's Chapel's first South African progeny are now yearlings, outstanding individuals of substance with powerful hindquarters. King's Chapel stands for a fee of R15 000 this season.
