Three Wins For Bush Hill And Toreador In A Month

Afterburner, Sir Isaac and Diamond Cut have all registered wins in the last month for Bush Hill Stud, while resident sire Toreador has also had three wins on tracks in Gauteng in the last 30 days.

Afterburner, a son of Mon Sang out of Full Steam by Northern Guest, had his third win over 2600m yesterday at Turffontein. Going off at odds of 10/1, he won by three quarters a of length from Club King, Ganesh and Lions Emblem. The five year old gelding is owned by the Steamers Syndicate (Nom: Mr N F Van Niekerk) and trained by Barend Botes. Afterburner is a half-brother to three other winners. He has also placed five times.

Afterburner is the third winner in a month for Bush Hill, with Sir Isaac (by Newton) recently winning at Flamingo Park over 2200m by an impressive five and half lengths under S'manga Khumalo, and Diamond Cut (by Mogok) winning at Fairview by half a length over 1000m.

Sir Isaac has found good recent form, the six year old gelding out of Celestial Dawn by Divine King has now won four times, and placed 10 times. In the last 11 outings, he has placed five times, two of them just out of the placings, and won three times over distances of 1600m to 2200m. Congratulations to his owner Mr Reynier Gerber and trainer MN Prinsloo.

A four year old daughter of Mogok, Diamond Cut went out to win her debut impressively for owner Lee Scribante at Fairview, by half a length from Prettyamazinggrace (Seventh Rock), La Vega (Toreador) and Jacaranda Flower (Jay Peg). The filly is out of Edge Of Reason by Kahal, trained by Alan Greef. She won over 1000m on turf, carrying 60kgs from a third draw and the first runner for her dam Edge Of Reason. Congratulations to all concerned.

Bush Hill's resident sire Toreador has had three winners in the last month in Gauteng.

Five year old gelding Shadowline grabbed his sixth win over 1450m, and has placed six times from just 16 starts. His most impressive win came in early August, when he annhilated a field over 1450m on sand in the Vaal by over 10 lengths. Be Mine Tonight (by Jet Master) and Boy Oh Boy (by Kahal) placed behind him respectively.

Carrying top weight of the field of 59,5kgs, he added to this emphatic victory by giving the second horse a two and half kilo beating in weight under jockey Chase Maujean. Well done to his breeders the Tawny Syndicate, as well as his owner Mr H Kokkinidis & part/owner and trainer Mr & Mrs S W Kenny.

The other winners by Toreador include Shepard One, who got up to grab her third win of her career, and more recently Torrelavega, a four year old filly who has won and placed three times.
