Kahal has once again been proudly crowned KZN Breeders Stallion Of The Year - for the sixth year consecutively.
Recently, the most successful son of Machiavellian to stand at stud in South Africa, was leading the National Sires Log by Stakes Earned.
Kahal is currently lying in third position, with his top-performer No Worries leading the way with a recent Gr2 win in the Spring Joburg Challenge as well as Enchanted Silk, looking for big run in the Gr1 Sansui Summer Cup this weekend. He is still the Leading Sire by Stakes on Sand, represented in this category by Uncle Tommy.
Not surprisingly, four of his progeny were nominated in various categories on the evening, as well as being the broodmare sire of Gr1 placed Beckedorf, who was nominated for Outstanding Two Year Old Colt. Another grand-daughter, Ha Lucy, recently won the Gardenia Listed.
Kahal is also represented by succesful progeny overseas, with his Gr1 winning son Love Struck recently taking home the Duke Of York Cup in Mauritius, Lovely Naughty winning at Sha Tin and Coronet Peak competing in Singapore.
Congratulations must go to his owners and stalwart supporters of KZN Breeding, Shadwell Stud. Kahal is a sad loss to the breeding industry and we look forward to his future success as a broodmare sire.
Congratulations must go to Karin Render who received a special award on the evening, the Anita Akal Industry Award. Karin was recognised for her ongoing effort and hard work behind the scenes of the breeding industry in KZN.
